The explosion bonding process is a cold and solid state. The process depends upon pressure obtained from the detonation of an explosive to achieve a truly metallurgical bond between dissimilar metal composites. The detonation happens so quickly, that the clad composites are not subjected to much heat during the bonding process. The mechanical, physical and corrosion properties of the individuals are retained.
